Zestawienie Debian - niewolne sterowniki, niewolne firmware nie idzie w parze.
To jedna z najbardziej rygorystycznych dystrybucji pod względem zapisów licencyjnych godzących w wolności.
Próba instalacji sterowników w tej wersji ati-driver-11.12 nie ma najmniejszego sensu w przypadku Debiana Squeeze. To nie może się udać bez uaktualnienia podstawowych składników. Ewentualnie musiałbyś zainstalować wersję z przed 2 lat. :D
kernel, minimum 2.6.37-38 (jest 2.6.32)
Wymagany bodajże >= xorg 1.10 przy tej wersji sterowników, w repo masz 1.7.7
Z tym że ja się nie orientuję czy to jest niezbędny składnik w przypadku wykorzystania karty do liczenia.
Zainstaluj jakąś naprawdę swiężą dystrybucję linuxa - Ubuntu, ArchLinux, Fedorę. Daruj sobie archeologię.
Najwygodniej Tobie by było skorzystać z Ubuntu w wersji serwerowej.
Debian 6.0.3 (najnowszy) to jest archeologia? :wacko:
Jeśli ma to być debian, to moim zdaniem warto zaktualizować co najmniej do wersji testing są tam w miarę nowe wersje pakietów. Stable jest dla tych którzy rygorystycznie domagają się stabilności za cenę przestarzałych wersji pakietów- tam są tylko aktualizacje bezpieczeństwa. W repozytorium non-free są zamkniętoźródłowe sterowniki fglrx do radeonów oraz moduł dkms do automatycznej kompilacji modułu jądra, nie trzeba się babrać z module-assistant. Mogę w tygodniu napisać ci małe how-to jak zaktualizować do testinga i zainstalować co trzeba, ale nie mam żadnej karty graficznej ati/amd, więc nie przetestuję czy to zadziała w rzeczywistej konfiguracji.
ja mogę to później przetestować, bo i tak miałem to zrobić. Żeby zobaczyć czy będzie różnica w RAC miedzy wersja z nakładką graficzną i bez.
@Grid: a nie możesz po prostu zainstalować normalnie, a później wyłączyć X`y? O ile pamiętam wystarczyła kombinacja 2 klawiszy, ale zapomniałem jakich %)
Ps. wyłączenie X`ów dawało wzrost wydajności, głównie dla tego że często podczas liczenia na grafie Xorg zżerał sporo zasobów procka.
Jak zainstaluje normalnie to nie sprawdzę czy jest jakaś różnica :). Poza tym ja tej kombinacji klawiszy też nie znam.
Dobra... odpalam tą maszynkę - niech doliczy do końca WU co tam zostały i przesiadka na coś nowszego ;)

Powaga.
Nie poleciłbym tego absolutnie na sprzęt kupiony w ostatnich 2-3 latach.
Przywyczaiłem się do używania dystrybucji ciągłych a nie wydawanych okresowo.
Przykładowe nowe - Arch Linux z repozytorium experimental, PLD z repo test, Debian unstable.
Kernel 3.1.6 - to jest nowy linux.
debian unstable jest stabilniejszy niż ubuntu :D

To jest tylko przełączenie konsoli, nie wyłącza Xów tylko przełącza na drugi terminal, podczas gdy Xy cały czas działają na pierwszym ;) Żeby pozbyć się uruchamiania Xów to najprościej chyba uruchamiać system w init 3, ewentualnie ubić je na ekranie logowania :P
Xy możesz ubić w dowolnym momencie :D wystarczy polecenie Kill :D

1. Jak teraz sprawdzić czy działa na tych sterownikach czy w trybie VGA? Jeżeli nie działa to jak wymusić?
